Silverseas Cruises Explorer

Purpose built for the Galapagos Islands (Courtesy – Silversea Cruises)

On June 3rd, the Silver Origin was added to ultra-luxury Silversea Cruise’s fleet. This ship was purpose built to serve the 19 islands which make up the Galapagos Archipelago located about 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador. This elegant 100-guest ship will cruise the Galapagos year-round.

Discovering the islands

You don’t visit the Galapagos to lay on the beach, you go to discover the uniqueness of these islands that captivated Charles Darwin. Silver Origin’s team of Ecuadorian expert guides will bring the islands to life by explaining and showing the complex ecosystems with its wide variety of plants, animals and marine life, many of which can only be found on these islands. The Silver Origin features 8 Zodiacs to move guests among the islands.

Evenings onboard

After a day of exploring the islands, retreat to your suite to prepare for a sumptuous dinner experience inspired by Ecuadorean cuisine and featuring an abundance of fresh seafood locally sourced. But before dinner head to the Explorer lounge for a cocktail and a chance to unwind while sharing stories about the days adventures with your fellow guests. Then head to the Restaurant, which is capable of seating all guests at the same time for an exquisite dinner.

Luxury accommodations

All suites, regardless of the category, are the most spacious in the Galapagos. The Classic Veranda is a comfortable stateroom with 253 sq. ft. of interior space with an additional 72 sq. ft. balcony. The Silver Suite is 427 sq. ft. with an additional 109 sq. ft balcony. The largest suite is the Owner’s Suite at 1,076 sq. ft. of interior space and a 646 sq. ft balcony. It offers a stunning 180° view of the destination. All suites have butler service.

Protecting the environment

The ship is one of the most energy-efficient ships in its class, reducing fuel consumption 15% in part through its design of its hull which reduces drag by 25%. The ships dynamic positioning system means it never drops an anchor in the ecologically sensitive sea bed. In-suite water purification eliminates the need for plastic bottles.

In addition, Silversea created the Silversea Fund for the Galapagos – dedicated to supporting “educational projects to safeguard the well-being of the Galapagos Islands for future generations.” Silversea will match any guest’s contribution up to $1,000 in the form of a future cruise credit. To learn more about the Galapagos and Silversea’s Silver Origin’s sailings give us a call or send an email.
